Beirut explosion damage revealed in aerial shots

Aerials taken over Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, revealed the extensive damage caused by a massive blast, even miles from the explosion's center. At least 145 people were killed and at 5,000 people were injured. Lebanese authorities expect both numbers to increase as crews dig through the rubble.

The explosion was so powerful that homes of more than 250,000 people in the area are no longer safe to live in. Beirut was already suffering from political instability, an economic downturn and an increase in COVID-19 cases.
