Two staffers from New York City’s Long Island Jewish Medical Center are expected to be among the first Americans to receive jabs of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Monday, December 14. The vaccination is expected to take place during a press conference.
The first three million doses of the vaccine started being distributed across all the 50 states on Sunday. 145 sites - including New York - are scheduled to receive the vaccine on Monday, 425 on Tuesday and 66 on Wednesday.
Most of the first injections are set to be given to high-risk healthcare workers. The vaccine is expected to offer up to 95% protection against COVID-19.
