The deadly coronavirus which causes Covid-19 was first reported in the central Chinese city of Wuhan on December 31, 2019. As it rapidly spread around the country, the first death from the virus was reported on January 11, 2020. Overthe two months since then, it emerged as a global epidemic despite efforts by Chinese authorities to lock down major cities and delay the return of workers from the Lunar New Year holiday. ByMarch 11, the epidemichadspread to at least 100 countries and regions,sickened more than 119,027 people worldwide and was declared a pandemic.
