Extraordinary security precautions are being taken ahead of Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20.

It comes amid fresh warnings from the FBI of armed protests by supporters of Donald Trump. FBI Director Chris Wray briefed Vice President Mike Pence on an "extensive amount of concerning online chatter" being picked up ahead of Inauguration Day.

Up to 25,000 National Guard troops could be deployed in Washington DC by Wednesday, three times more than the number of US personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria combined.
